Introducing the Campbell County Running Series
The Campbell County Running Series, sponsored by The Friends of Cove Lake State Park, is designed to encourage individuals to get outside in Campbell County, to be active and participate in Campbell County running/walking events.
Campbell County has several wonderful events throughout the year, that support various nonprofit causes and organizations. We encourage everyone to get outside, be active, and to participate in these events to improve yourself and our community. The Campbell County Running Series hopes to incentivize your participate by providing a year-long goal to work towards.

Eligibility Guidelines
Eligible participants for the year-end participation award and series Top 10 awards must participate in at least 5 of the 7 participating events either as an official volunteer for the event or as a registered runner/walker for the event. Some events may offer the opportunity to both volunteer and run/walk for their event.
“Top 10” Explained
The Top 10 will be the list of the ten highest point earners for the series based on both participation and overall and age group placements. The Top 10 winners will receive a very cool year-end award.
“Top 10” points will be awarded in two ways (Click + for full details):
-
Participating either as a volunteer OR as a runner/walker in one of the eligible events will earn you 1 point for each option (i.e. volunteering and running/walking at the same event will earn you 2 points). Check with the race director for volunteer opportunities!
-
Points will be awarded for Male and Female placement in the individual event’s award categories as follows:
First Overall Place = 9 points
Second Overall = 8 points
Third Overall Place = 7 points
First Place Male or Female Masters, Grand Masters, Veterans, etc. = 6 points
Second Place Male or Female Masters, Grand Masters, Veterans, etc. = 5 points
Third Place Male or Female Masters, Grand Masters, Veterans, etc. = 4 points
Age group placement points will also be awarded for top three placements in each event’s offered age group categories as follows:
Age Group First Place = 3 points
Age Group Second Place = 2 points
Age Group Third Place = 1 point
Please Note:
Some events may have different award categories than other events. Points will be awarded for the event specific categories only.

Race Series Rules
A designated representative (known as the “Series Manager”) from the Friends of Cove Lake State Park will maintain and manage the list of eligible participants and the Top 10 list from information provided by the series events race directors.
The race director for each individual event will be responsible for providing official results to the Series Manager as soon as possible after each event.
Participation does matter! Each eligible series participant will receive a custom designed and locally sourced participation award at the end of the year.
Participation in virtual options will be eligible for participation credit points but not eligible for race-day placement points.
The Top 10 will be posted and maintained on the Friends of Cove Lake Face Book page and website for all to see and marvel at.
